Addiction Cycle – BasedGenZ

Essentially, these are the 4 components of the addiction cycle. You have the cue, craving, binge, and finally relapse. If you start to binge, you will inevitably relapse. You have to do everything in your power to prevent the cycle from ever making it to this point. You need to pick the part of the cycle that is easiest to break, and that is the cue stage. The cue stage is where the cycle starts. It is also where the cycle can end as well.

The key to beating addictions in general

Research has shown that smokers who went to prison are more likely to quit smoking than those who did not. This is due to the fact that smoking is often prohibited in prisons, and inmates are not allowed to smoke. Smokers in prison are forced to break the addiction cycle because they never get the cue to smoke. In fact, the addiction cycle never even starts. They are forced to quite. As it turns out, you can also force yourself to quite by eliminating the cue stage, which is outlined in this article.

1. Identify your triggers

The first step in beating the triggers of porn addiction is to identify your triggers. Everyone’s triggers are different, and it is essential to recognize what triggers you specifically. Some common triggers for porn addiction include boredom, stress, anxiety, loneliness, and even certain environments or people. Once you have identified your triggers, you can start to develop strategies to avoid or manage them. For instance, if you always get urges at 11 pm at night you should leave the phone outside of your room.

2. Completely remove triggers from your environment

This is the most consequential step for beating your addiction. If you haven’t already (I’m going to assume you have), delete all porn from your computer and phone. Next, you need to prevent yourself from ever accessing porn. This is truly the key. Just like the smokers, you can prevent yourself from getting cues.

  4. Next, type the following command and press Enter: “ping forcesafesearch.google.com”. This will send a ping request to Google’s SafeSearch server.
  5. If the ping is successful, type the following command and press Enter: “echo off | clip”. This will copy a blank space to your clipboard.
  6. Go to your preferred web browser and open the Google search page.
  7. In the search bar, right-click and select “Paste” to paste the blank space.
